Using the QR code API

2 min read · Updated 18 Oct 2026

Create, change, pause and measure QR codes from your own systems.

For: DevelopersDifficulty: Advanced⏱ 5 min

Step by step

  1. On QR codes, choose More → API to open Developer tools · QR API. Workspace owners and admins can manage keys.
  2. Choose Create key, name it, and pick its scopes: codes:read, codes:write, analytics:read, bulk:write.
  3. Copy the key now — it starts lvqr_ and is shown only once. LinkVault keeps a secure hash, not the key.
  4. Send it with every request as Authorization: Bearer lvqr_… to https://accounts.linkvault.bio/api/qr/v1.
  5. The full reference — listing, creating and changing codes, pointing a printed code somewhere new, pause and resume, the SVG image, analytics and bulk — is on the same page, and always matches the API that is running.

Tips

  • Limits: 60 requests a minute per key and 10,000 a month per workspace. Requests the API refuses (a bad key, a missing scope, a rate limit) do not count towards the month.
  • Errors always come back in one shape: {"error": {"code", "message", "fields"}}.
  • Recent API calls shows what each key did. Request bodies are never stored — they can contain passwords and phone numbers.
  • A key belongs to the workspace, not to the person who made it, and acts with the workspace’s current plan. Revoke stops it immediately.
  • The QR code API is included on Premium and Enterprise.
