Designing a QR code in the Design Studio

1 min read · Updated 17 Oct 2026

Patterns, corner shapes, gradients, frames with a call to action, your logo — and a check that it still scans.

For: EveryoneDifficulty: Medium⏱ 4 min

Step by step

  1. Open the code and choose Design.
  2. Start from Templates and brand presets, or build your own:
  3. Colours — code colour, background and an optional gradient (top to bottom, left to right, diagonal or radial).
  4. Pattern and corners — square, rounded, extra rounded, dots or fine dots, with square, rounded, circle or leaf corners.
  5. Frame and call to action — a label below or above, an outline, or a pill label, with up to 30 characters such as “Scan for the menu”.
  6. Logo in the middle — upload your mark and choose its size.
  7. Watch the check under the preview. If it says the design does not scan, try more contrast, a smaller logo or a solid pattern.
  8. Save. Choose Save preset to reuse the look on your other codes.

Tips

  • The Design Studio is included from the Growth plan, and works on your simple codes too.
  • Changing the design never changes where a code goes. Printed copies keep working, though they will not match the new look.
  • The check scans your design the way a phone camera would, at several sizes. It is a strong guide, not a guarantee — always test the printed piece.
