Pausing, duplicating and deleting a QR code

1 min read · Updated 17 Oct 2026

Switch a printed code off for a while, copy it for another placement, or remove it.

For: EveryoneDifficulty: Easy⏱ 2 min

Step by step

  1. Pause — on the code’s page. Scans stop reaching the destination until you choose Resume. Only editable codes can be paused.
  2. Set When the code is paused (under Edit) to send scans somewhere useful while it is off — otherwise people see LinkVault’s “Temporarily unavailable” page.
  3. Duplicate — makes a new code with the same settings, including its campaign tags and schedule. It has its own image and starts at zero scans. A password is not copied.
  4. Delete — removes the code and its history. Anything already printed stops working.

Tips

  • Scans while a code is paused are not counted — a number that kept climbing would look as if the pause had failed.
  • A code that is resumed after its end date goes straight to “expired”.
  • Duplicate is the quick way to give each placement its own code, so analytics can tell them apart.
