QR code analytics: what counts as a scan

Scans, unique visitors, taps, and the things LinkVault deliberately does not count.
For: EveryoneDifficulty: Medium⏱ 3 min
Step by step
- Open a code and choose Analytics — or, for all your codes, tap Open analytics on the “See every scan” card on the QR codes page (it is also under More).
- Choose a range — Today, Last 7 days, Last 30 days, Last 90 days or Custom.
- Read the totals (scans and unique visitors), the trend, the busiest hours, and the breakdowns by country, device, operating system and browser. City and region appear when the network supplies them.
Tips
- Not counted: link previews and bots (a code pasted into a WhatsApp chat is fetched by WhatsApp, not scanned by a person), and the same phone opening the same code again within about 20 seconds — which is what many camera apps do.
- Unique visitors are counted anonymously. LinkVault stores no names, phone numbers or IP addresses for a scan — only coarse details such as the country and the type of device.
- Taps are button presses on a social action page, counted per channel.
- Analytics is included from the Growth plan and keeps the last 30 days. A longer range shows as much as your plan keeps.
- A scan is not a sale or a sent message. LinkVault sees the scan; what the person does next in WhatsApp or on your website is outside its view.
