What people see when a QR code is paused, expired or used up

The pages LinkVault shows instead of your destination, and how to replace them with your own.

For: EveryoneDifficulty: Easy⏱ 2 min

Step by step

  1. Paused — “Temporarily unavailable. The owner has paused this code.”
  2. Not started yet, or saved as a draft — “This QR code isn’t live yet”, with the start date when there is one.
  3. Expired — “This QR code has expired”, or your own message.
  4. Scan limit reached — “This QR code is no longer available”, or your own message.
  5. Deleted — “This QR code isn’t active.”
  6. Disabled — “This QR code has been disabled.” LinkVault switches off codes that are used for phishing or other abuse; contact support if you think that is a mistake.

Tips

  • Set When the code is paused to send people to your own page instead. Paused, expired and used-up codes all use it.
  • These pages are never indexed by search engines and never cached by the phone, so a code that comes back on works straight away.
